The role
As Head of Applications, you will:
* Lead Southwark’s Applications function, overseeing a portfolio of critical business systems, business intelligence, GIS and data integration services that underpin the delivery of council services.
* Develop and deliver the council’s applications strategy, ensuring systems are modern, secure, resilient and aligned to wider organisational and digital transformation objectives.
* Drive the optimisation and transformation of key applications, identifying opportunities to improve services, increase efficiency and maximise the value of technology investment.
* Build strong partnerships with senior leaders across the organisation, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring technology solutions support current and future business needs.
* Lead and develop a high-performing team while managing significant programmes, suppliers, contracts and budgets to deliver successful outcomes across a complex technology environment.
What we're looking for
We're seeking an experienced technology leader who brings:
* A strong track record of leading applications, digital or technology services within a large and complex organisation, delivering measurable business and service improvements.
* Significant experience of leading transformation programmes, modernising technology estates and implementing innovative digital solutions.
* Expertise in enterprise applications, systems integration, data and business intelligence, alongside an understanding of emerging technologies such as AI and automation.
* The ability to influence and build credibility with senior stakeholders, translating organisational priorities into effective technology strategies and delivery plans.
* A passion for developing inclusive, high-performing teams and using technology to improve outcomes for residents, customers and communities.
