An East London Local Authority is seeking an Interim Commercial Building Surveyor to join their Property team and support the effective management of the Council’s extensive commercial property portfolio.
Role Overview:
This is a key role within the Council’s Commercial Property team, reporting to the Commercial Manager. You will be one of nine team members responsible for overseeing a diverse portfolio of over 600 commercial properties, comprising predominantly retail units, alongside industrial sites, offices, land, and community centres.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage rent reviews and lease renewals across the portfolio
* Handle tenant applications for assignments, subletting, alterations, and Deeds of Variation
* Coordinate and advise on dilapidations processes
* Support the management of the Council’s operational commercial assets
* Ensure compliance, optimise income, and minimise outstanding lease events and tenant disputes
* Deliver solutions to complex property issues, balancing Council and stakeholder needs
Requirements:
* Member or Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS/FRICS)
* Demonstrable experience in managing commercial property portfolios in a public sector or similar setting
