The Bench Joiner is responsible for the manufacture and assembly of high-quality joinery components and finished products within the workshop. The role involves interpreting drawings, machining timber products, assembling joinery items, and ensuring all work meets required quality, safety, and productivity standards.Key ResponsibilitiesManufacturing & AssemblyManufacture bespoke and standard joinery items including doors, frames, windows, cabinets, counters, shelving, and other timber productsRead and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and specificationsAccurately mark, machine, assemble, and finish joinery items at the benchUse hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery safely and efficientlyCarry out glue-ups, fittings, sanding, and preparation for finishingQuality & ProductivityEnsure all work meets required quality standards and tolerancesMaintain consistent output while achieving production targetsIdentify and report defects, errors, or material issuesTake pride in workmanship and attention to detailHealth, Safety & HousekeepingFollow all health & safety procedures and company policiesCarry out routine checks and basic maintenance of tools and machineryMaintain a clean, organised, and safe workstationUse PPE correctly and report any hazards or near missesTeamworking & CommunicationWork effectively as part of a production teamCommunicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues regarding workload and prioritiesSupport apprentices or junior staff when requiredWhat you'll bringAs a Bench Joiner and CNC Operative your main skills and experience should include:Essential Criteria:Proven experience as a Bench Joiner within a joinery workshop or manufacturing environmentStrong ability to read and work from technical drawingsCompetence using woodworking machinery (e.g. spindle moulder, planer, saws, morticer)High Standards of workmanship and attention to detailGood understanding of timber materials, joinery techniques and tolerancesAbility to provide CNC machine cover, including:Loading and unloading timber componentsSetting tools and materialsRunning pre-programmed CNC routinesMonitoring cutting quality and accuracyIdentifying and reporting faults or issuesDesirable:NVQ / City & Guilds in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent)Experience with bespoke or high-end joinery manufactureKnowledge of modern manufacturing methods and tolerancesExperience working to production schedules and deadlinesPersonal AttributesReliable and punctualMethodical and well-organisedStrong problem-solving skillsPositive attitude and strong work ethicCommitted to quality and continuous improvementHow we'll reward youOf course, we ensure that our benefits package is competitive and allows you to enjoy your downtime.
