Overview
We are looking for a motivated Geomatics Analyst to join a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of National Elevation Data Programmes. You will use specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from state-of-the-art Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
Responsibilities
* Process survey data to support the delivery of National Elevation Data Programmes.
* Quality control data using GIS and specialist software; work with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LiDAR.
* Contribute to the Geomatics team’s services for collection and analysis of LiDAR, aerial photography, bathymetry and satellite data.
* Communicate effectively, work unsupervised when needed, and meet challenging deadlines.
* Support incident response duties in addition to day-job responsibilities where required.
Experience / Skills
* Relevant degree-level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* Practical experience with ESRI GIS products (ArcGIS Pro/ArcMap) and working with large, complex mapping datasets; experience with airborne LiDAR is preferred.
* Experience processing and quality controlling LiDAR datasets and LiDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models is advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical/problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills and a professional attitude; ability to communicate effectively and work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
Additional Information
* The National Monitoring Survey team is national; you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office. Travel to the Geomatics team hub in Bath may be required, and occasional in-office attendance may be needed to support team activities.
* Post is full-time; other working patterns will be considered. Interviews will be in-person at the Bath office and include a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
* Contract length: 17 months – Up to March 2027.
