Overview
We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Management Accountant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on analysing data, improving processes, and supporting key business decisions. You will be leading a small team in producing accurate financial insight, driving performance, and partnering with operational teams to help shape the future direction of the business.
As a Management Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts, analysing variances, creating budgets and forecasts, monitoring costs, and providing meaningful financial commentary that supports senior leadership. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, explaining financial performance in a clear and actionable way, and helping to identify opportunities for efficiency and growth.
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to contribute to business strategy. Ideal applicants will be AAT Level 4, part‑qualified, or fully qualified CIMA, with experience in management reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
* Prepare monthlymanagementaccounts, financial statements, and performance reports.
* Analyse variances between actual and budgeted results to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
* Create and update forecasts, cash flow projections, and long‑term financial plans.
Budgeting
* Lead or support the annualbudgeting process.
* Work with department heads to gather data and align budgets with strategic objectives.
Cost Control & Reporting
* Analyse and monitor operational costs, identifying efficiency improvements.
* Produce cost reports, margin analysis, and KPI dashboards.
* Assist in pricing decisions and cost reduction initiatives.
Business Partnering
* Collaborate with operational teams to provide financial insight and guidance.
* Support senior management with decision‑making through data‑driven recommendations.
Compliance & Governance
* Ensure financial practices comply with internal policies and relevant accounting standards.
* Assist with internal and external audits.
Systems & Process Improvement
* Improve financial reporting systems, processes, and controls.
* Support digital transformation projects (e.g., ERP upgrades, automation).
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
* Part‑qualified or fully qualified accountant AAT level 4 or CIMA minimum
* Strong analytical and numerical skills.
* Proficient in Excel and financial software (ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Sage).
* Ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights to non‑finance stakeholders.
* Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting roles.
* Knowledge of business performance metrics and cost accounting.
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
