We require an Electronics Team Leader to join our Hardware function, where you will play a pivotal role in the technical leadership of a talented team of Hardware Engineers, specialising in both analogue and high-speed digital electronic hardware. You will provide invaluable hardware expertise across various research, development, and production programmes ranging from tens of £k to several £m.
Responsibilities
* Specify, design, and verify digital and analogue electronic hardware to meet quality, time, and budget requirements.
* Perform design calculations, simulations, and prototyping to ensure high-quality designs with minimal rework.
* Develop, test, and verify electronic hardware following the hardware development process.
* Estimate effort and time for hardware activities and deliver accordingly to ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
* Provide technical guidance across multiple projects to ensure optimal design approaches.
* Coordinate with production to ensure designs are suitable for volume manufacturing and assist in debugging hardware issues to minimize delays.
* Contribute to design reviews and foster a collaborative team environment.
* Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to less technical stakeholders.
* Manage information security in compliance with the Security manual and government regulations.
Role Requirements
Essential
* Willing and able to obtain and maintain SC and DV security clearances.
* Willing to travel occasionally to other Ultra sites, suppliers, and test facilities.
Qualifications / Skills
Essential
* Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Extensive experience in high-speed digital design, analogue circuit design, and power supply design.
* Ability to design reliable power supplies and analyze performance across temperature and input/output conditions.
* Proficiency with schematic capture tools and PCB layout constraints.
* Experience with large, complex multi-layer PCB designs.
Desirable
* Knowledge of EMC and TEMPEST design and testing.
* Experience with DOORS, PADS, and PSpice software.
