Role purpose
As a Database Administrator (DBA) you will be responsible to manage, configure and maintain the SQL Server environment.
You will help support the business areas on their database requirements, working on requests and incidents. As well as liaising with Project Managers and Customers to provide technical support and guidance for projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, configure, manage, and maintain SQL Server environments.
* Monitor system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance and availability.
* Ensure database security, integrity, stability, and system availability.
* Support Disaster Recovery tests - Developing and maintaining procedures to ensure that systems can be recovered in the event of a disaster.
* Work collaboratively on project tasks, assisting the project team to ensure the successful delivery of project requirements.
* Support the business on incident and request resolution.
* Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Essential Criteria
* Extensive experience of Microsoft SQL Server.
* Experience of database backup and restore procedures.
* A good understanding of Microsoft Server platforms.
* Experience of designing technical solutions fit for purpose.
* Experience with performance tuning and optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
* Problem solving skills to identify root causes and offer solutions.
* Ability to prioritize their work to deliver business requests and project demand on time.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong experience working within a team environment and independently.
* Willingness to work out of business hours and on-call when required.
Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge of other operating systems or databases would be an advantage.
* Experience with Microsoft Azure.
* Experience of SolarWinds and Service Now.
