Job Description: Cleaner 1 month contract with local authority Location: Jesse Gray Primary School, West Bridgford, NG2 7DD Pay Rate: £15.37 per hour UMB Requirement: Enhanced DBS Summary The Cleaner is tasked with ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment within the school premises. This role is crucial in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, thereby supporting the wellbeing of pupils, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning tasks, including: Emptying waste bins Vacuuming carpets Dusting and damp wiping surfaces Floor cleaning and maintenance Cleaning washrooms and replenishing supplies Safely and effectively operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and floor maintenance machinery. Address emergency cleaning situations, including floods or spills, and safely clean bodily fluids in accordance with health and safety procedures. Communicate effectively with the designated site representative and other cleaning staff to ensure efficient service delivery. Maintain accurate records and ensure all cleaning documentation and administrative systems are up to date. Requirements Requirements: Experience: Previous cleaning experience in a school, public sector, or similar environment (desirable). Experience using cleaning equipment and machinery safely. Experience working to health and safety standards. Qualifications: No formal qualifications required; however, relevant cleaning or health & safety training is advantageous. Enhanced DBS clearance (essential). Knowledge & Skills: Understanding of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Knowledge of health and safety procedures, including safe handling of hazardous materials. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness. Good communication skills. Additional Information Working hours: 12.5 hours per week.
