Junior Contracts Manager

Overview
An established contractor in the infrastructure and utilities sector is looking for a motivated Junior Contracts Manager to support the commercial and contractual delivery of major water projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in project delivery, quantity surveying, or contract administration who is looking to develop their expertise in contract management. Working closely with senior commercial and project leads, you’ll gain hands-on experience with NEC and IChemE forms of contract, supporting the team in managing project costs, risks, and client communications.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in reviewing and understanding main contract requirements, schedules, and procedures.
* Support senior team members in preparing and maintaining contract documentation and records.
* Help draft and issue contract correspondence, notices, and variations in line with NEC processes.
* Contribute to the preparation of compensation event submissions and time or cost assessments.
* Assist in managing subcontractor agreements and supporting the flow of project information.
* Monitor key contractual deadlines and ensure actions are completed on time.
* Support commercial reporting, audits, and risk assessments under guidance from senior managers.
Skills & Experience
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
* 1–3 years’ experience in a commercial, project coordination, or contract administration role within construction or utilities.
* Basic understanding of NEC or IChemE contracts (training and mentoring will be provided).
* Good IT skills including MS Office; familiarity with CEMAR is advantageous but not essential.
* Strong communication, organisation, and attention to detail.
* A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced project environment.
