Role Summary:
We are seeking a Motor Transport Manager to lead and develop our Motor Transport team, ensuring the effective maintenance of Birmingham Airport's diverse vehicle fleet. From buses and fire appliances to snow-clearing and de-icing equipment, you will oversee planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance while upholding safety, compliance, and operational excellence to support business continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, plan, and manage maintenance across a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, CAA, DVSA, and Operator's Licence standards.
* Drive efficiency through cost control, KPI performance, and continuous improvement.
* Oversee budgets, procurement of spares, fuel, and services using airport systems.
* Act as the escalation point for transport compliance and vehicle maintenance issues.
* Provide clear, consistent leadership to develop the team and champion a customer-first culture.
Experience Required:
* ONC or equivalent qualification in Motor Vehicle Engineering (minimum NVQ Level 3).
* Managers Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
* Proven fleet maintenance management or workshop leadership experience (minimum 5 years).
* Strong knowledge of compliance requirements and safe vehicle operations.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* IT literate, with experience in reporting systems and administrative processes.
