Data Engineering Manager (Pricing)
JOB OVERVIEW
This is a key role within our Transformation function, which sits within Underwriting. It offers a unique opportunity to work within a team driving change in the insurance business.
The role will oversee a centralized data analytics center for the commercial and technical areas, providing detailed, accurate data analysis in collaboration with Data Science and Data Program Managers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Drive transformation of Allianz’s data analytics environment to align with strategic objectives and business goals.
* Maintain and enhance data and reporting frameworks supporting Pricing processes for data-driven decision-making.
* Manage relationships with Group stakeholders to promote Technical Excellence initiatives.
* Create a roadmap for a robust data engineering infrastructure to ensure business success.
* Lead UAT for policy and claims systems data as part of strategic programs.
* Develop and deliver the new Underwriting Datamart on the Databricks platform.
* Promote Cloud computing adoption for Underwriting.
* Develop automated ETL pipelines to improve efficiencies.
* Collaborate on reports, tools, datasets, and dashboards with Data Science and Data Program Managers.
* Present analytics clearly to senior management to support decision-making.
* Identify analytics gaps and develop innovative solutions.
* Embed best practices in data engineering to improve processes.
REQUIREMENTS
* Experience applying Data Engineering in the Insurance sector.
* Experience managing data teams/projects and stakeholder management skills.
* Programming skills in Python and SQL.
* Knowledge of Databricks platform desirable.
* Understanding of Data Science practices and automation/CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
* Self-starter with problem-solving skills.
* Ability to balance business needs with simple solutions.
* Experience in consulting, transformation, or change management.
* Collaborative work style and excellent communication skills.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Honesty and integrity.
* Outstanding academic background in Maths and IT from a top-tier university.
