Lead Data Platform Engineer
Microsoft SQL Server & Cloud Data Platform Migration

Fulltime - Hybrid (3 days onsite in Essex)
We’re looking for an experienced Data Platform Engineer/DBA to lead the administration of Microsoft SQL Server environments and play a key role in migrating the on-premise data warehouse to a modern, cloud-based data platform.
Essential Skills
* Hands on expertise in administering Microsoft SQL Server (on-premise)
* Experience supporting production systems and ERP databases
* Cloud migrations for data warehouses or data platforms
* Data warehousing concepts (fact/dimension modelling, ETL/ELT)
* Data integration tools such as SSIS
* Experience supporting Power BI and on-premise gateways
* Excellent troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a small team
* Experience with Azure (Azure SQL, Synapse, Fabric, Data Factory) or other cloud platforms
* Experience designing modern ELT architectures
Key Responsibilities
* Administer, monitor and optimise SQL Server environments
* Ensure database availability, performance, security and recoverability
* Lead the design and delivery of the data warehouse migration to the cloud
* Design scalable architectures to support reporting and analytics
* Plan and execute the migration with minimal business impact
* Establish best-practice cloud administration processes post-migration
* Design, build and maintain data pipelines and data flows
* Orchestrate data movement across operational systems, the data warehouse and reporting platforms
