An exciting opportunity has arisen to pilot a new AHP-led cancer service, consisting of physio, dietetics, OT and SaLT provision across all pathways in the Trust. York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals receive around 33,000 suspected cancer referrals per year, and diagnose around 5,000 patients with cancer annually.
This role will be pivotal in developing and implementing a new AHP one-stop clinic model, which is aimed to support cancer patients holistically during and post the acute treatment phase. The Trust has received pump prime funds from the Humber & North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance in 25/26 to deliver this, and a draft outline proposal has been developed.
The role would work alongside an AHP Clinical Lead, Physiotherapist, OT, and SaLT to take this proposal to implementation and delivery, and be responsible for supporting the AHP Clinical Lead to develop the service specification, quality indicators, and evaluation framework required to ensure high quality services. The roles would also support the AHP Clinical Lead in the development of a business case for the future provision of the service once the pump prime funds cease.
The role would have the opportunity to provide a specialist clinic and support to patients diagnosed with cancer with a wide range of needs, and improve patient experience by delivering a high quality service.

Main duties of the job
1. To assess, treat and provide specialist dietetic care for a range of patients with complex conditions in the Oncology setting – including those requiring nutrition support during and post an acute cancer treatment phase.
2. To work as an autonomous practitioner, holding responsibility for your own caseload of patients with complex physical, psychological & cognitive problems.
3. To provide support, specialist advice and training to less experienced members of staff and students.
4. To act as a resource within the department and Trust, providing specialist information and advice in those conditions indicated.
5. To maintain accurate dietetic records in accordance with Trust guidelines, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) requirements and the British Dietetic Association (BDA) requirements.
6. To contribute to the collection of business-related information to inform service development and priorities.
7. To work flexibly as a member of the department responding to relevant service needs, supporting both inpatient and outpatient services. This may include input outside core hours, and travelling to other hospital sites including Scarborough, Harrogate, Malton, Selby, and Easingwold.
8. To be responsible for a defined area of service working without direct supervision; clinical work will be evaluated in line with Trust and service objectives.
9. To engage in regular clinical/managerial supervision and undertake education and training, to develop oneself and others.
10. To initiate evidence-based audit and projects, to evaluate and improve clinical practice, and evaluate user involvement making local service changes where appropriate.
11. To contribute to appropriate clinical networks that may be at a local, regional or national level.

Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
19. Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal clinical supervision
20. Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations
