About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Modernisation Engineer to support our IT Obsolescence programme. This role focuses on modernising the technology estate by replacing, upgrading, or decommissioning end-of-life systems, ensuring secure and efficient delivery with full production readiness and operational transition.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate OS upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning activities.
* Support application teams with middleware upgrades (MQ, WebSphere, BizTalk).
* Perform asset discovery and application mapping to inform obsolescence planning.
* Ensure infrastructure changes meet production readiness and operational transition requirements.
* Assist with problem management, root cause analysis, and incident investigations.
* Oversee delivery across internal and external technical teams.
What You’ll Bring
* Broad understanding of operating systems (RHEL, Windows), databases (Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL), and middleware.
* Strong data analytical skills for aligning orphan assets to business areas.
* Hands-on experience in asset discovery and application mapping.
* Knowledge of Solution Architecture principles for end-to-end remediation.
* Familiarity with compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOX) is advantageous.
* ITIL Foundation certification (required).
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
