Where you’ll work…
Yorkshire District covers an area from Teesside to Spurn Head, including the North York Moors National Park and the Leeds metropolitan area to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The district manages a 21,000-hectare estate with ecologically important woodland parcels, attracting over 400,000 visitors annually, including at the Dalby Forest Visitor Centre. Our goal is to manage these woodlands to benefit wildlife and people, support sustainable timber production, and promote carbon capture, ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future for Yorkshire Forest District and its residents.
Key responsibilities & accountabilities
* Perform forest estate management operations, including vegetation management, timber mensuration, fencing, planting, habitat enhancement, and protecting historic features.
* Support timber harvesting activities.
* Assist with recreation activities, including maintenance of facilities, tree safety inspections, and remedial works.
* Work effectively as part of a small team, responding promptly to work requests and unexpected tasks from supervisors and managers.
* Complete manual work in all weather conditions within the forest environment. The role is diverse and involves close teamwork.
* Demonstrate enthusiasm and work efficiently across a range of skills and disciplines.
And other tasks reasonably assigned by your line manager.
