La position
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented SAP & Equipment Lifecycle Specialist to join our Operations team in supporting the full lifecycle of equipment across our Scotland sites. This cross-functional role will be pivotal in managing equipment onboarding, decommissioning, obsolescence, and site relocations while ensuring alignment with SAP systems and Roche’s Integrated Engineering Compliance (IEC) module.
Key Responsibilities:
* Equipment Lifecycle Management:
o Lead the coordination and running of:
+ New equipment introductions
+ Establishing and management of calibration and maintenance activities in collaboration with equipment owners.
+ Ensure appropriate validation activities carried out on all equipment.
+ Ensure training needs identified by equipment owners, and correctly managed.
+ Equipment decommissioning, obsolescence planning, and relocations across Scotland sites.
+ Equipment Inventory and spares management.
o Maintain accurate and complete equipment records within SAP, ensuring traceability, compliance, and system integrity.
o Ensure all maintenance processes and documentation are audit-ready at all times.
* SAP & IEC Module Expertise:
o Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Roche’s IEC module across all Scottish sites, with a strong understanding of its functionality related to equipment management, maintenance tracking, and decommissioning.
o Serve as a Key SAP User, responsible for navigating, interpreting, and configuring complex maintenance plans and for ensuring all equipment is added/ maintained and decommissioned properly in SAP across all of Scotland operations
o Translate technical and operational strategies into accurate SAP maintenance schedules and hierarchies.
* Compliance & Quality Assurance:
o Ensure full compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Scientific Practices (GSPs), the Roche Code of Conduct, and all relevant regulatory requirements.
o Regularly audit equipment management activities and documentation to ensure inspection readiness.
o Promote a culture of quality and accountability in equipment and maintenance processes.
* Calibration & Operational Support:
o Support the calibration of operational equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain system accuracy and reliability.
* FEMS & Site Integration:
o Support and coordinate activities within the Facility and Equipment Management System (FEMS).
o Ensure alignment between SAP, IEC, and site operational practices.
* Cross-Site Collaboration & Interpersonal Engagement:
o Work closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams across Scotland to standardize and improve equipment management practices.
o Facilitate communication across functions to ensure shared ownership of equipment lifecycle and compliance activities.
* Training & Capability Building:
o Support cross-functional training initiatives aimed at improving equipment management knowledge and compliance.
o Identify training gaps across sites and contribute to the development and delivery of targeted training to close those gaps.
* KPI & Performance Monitoring:
o Monitor and report key equipment-related KPIs, including maintenance compliance, overdue tasks, and audit observations using SAP reporting tools. Studies maintenance performance to look for improvements
o Drive performance improvements through data insights and stakeholder engagement.
Who you are?
Qualifications & Experience:
* Strong working knowledge of SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) and equipment lifecycle management processes.
* Familiarity with calibration and maintenance requirements in regulated environments.
* Ability to interpret and configure complex SAP maintenance plans and translate them into meaningful operational tasks.
* Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills; comfortable working across multiple sites.
* Experience ensuring audit readiness and alignment with GxP, SOPs, and quality system requirements.
It’s beneficial if you have/are:
* Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
* Proficiency in Roche-specific systems and modules (IEC, FEMS).
* In-depth understanding of Roche's IEC module, particularly with regard to equipment management, maintenance execution, and decommissioning workflows.
* Prior training or facilitation experience related to equipment and compliance topics.
* Analytical capabilities in KPI tracking and continuous improvement
* Passionate change advocate for SAP-PM and IEC module and champion both across all sites
