Our client is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of a Residential Children’s Home in Hays. You will help lead the team, maintain a safe and nurturing environment, and ensure the home meets all statutory requirements under the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
You will contribute to staff supervision, rota planning, safeguarding practice, record-keeping, and daily operational oversight. In the Registered Manager’s absence, you will step into full management responsibilities, ensuring the home remains compliant, child-centred, and effectively staffed. The role requires flexibility, leadership presence, and a commitment to delivering high-quality care for children with complex needs.
Requirements
Essential Experience & Compliance
* Experience specifically within a residential children’s home.
* Strong understanding of Ofsted expectations and safeguarding procedures.
* Ability to work beyond standard regulated hours, including on-call duties.
* Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred) or willingness to complete one.
* No immigration restrictions — unrestricted working hours required.
* Ability to commute reliably to Hays or live within a reasonable distance.
Qualifications
* Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) — must already hold, be working towards, or be willing to complete (mandatory).
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) — desirable or willingness to work towards.
