Job Description

Key Responsibilities
* Test Planning & Execution
o Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans for GOV.UK digital services.
o Identify key testing objectives and ensure coverage of user requirements across different environments.
* Functional & Non-Functional Testing
o Conduct functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
o Perform non-functional testing, including performance, security, and usability testing.
* Automation & Test Framework Development
o Design and implement test automation frameworks using industry best practices.
o Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Java, JavaScript, Playwright, RestAssured (BDD), or similar frameworks.
o Automate API testing using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or equivalent.
o Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing and deployment.
* Defect Management & Reporting
o Identify, document, and track defects using test management tools (Azure DevOps, JIRA).
o Work closely with development teams to resolve issues effectively.
o Produce detailed test reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
* Collaboration & Agile Delivery
o Work in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban), contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives.
o Collaborate with developers, product managers, and business analysts to define test strategies.
o Provide guidance and mentor junior testers in automation best practices.
* Compliance with GOV.UK & DDAT Standards
o Follow GOV.UK service design principles and DDAT frameworks for testing government applications.
o Ensure all tests align with security and compliance regulations.
Technical Skills & Experience
* 6+ years of experience in test automation and software quality assurance.
* Hands‑on experience in automation testing frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress (UI automation), RestAssured (BDD), Postman (API testing).
* Experience with programming languages (Java, JavaScript) for writing automated tests.
* Experience developing test automation frameworks from scratch.
* Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and testing challenges.
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
* Knowledge of frontend testing (React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS).
* Experience with SQL and relational database testing.
