Assets include offshore meteorological masts, wind turbines, offshore transmission assets including onshore and offshore substations, foundations and subsea cables. The Field Expert Technician role is to ensure that these services are delivered safely, on time, and in accordance with contractual requirements, standards and specifications. Due to the specific knowledge and experience of the Field Expert Technician it is however expected that the focus of his/her site work will be predominantly based on the equipment is most knowledgeable about (eg. Statcom, SCADA, Accountabilities
1. Delivery of operation and maintenance services, including but not limited to:
2. Delivery the onshore and offshore electrical & mechanical work
3. Inspection and planned maintenance of onshore and offshore assets
4. Reactive maintenance – depending on the type of fault, reactive maintenance may require onshore and/or offshore site visits at short notice
5. Housekeeping
6. Delivery of retrofits
7. Management & coordination of the site works including monitoring of RES’s contractors’ performance
8. Producing Risk Assessments and Method Statements
9. Compliance with site safety rules including escalation and reporting of any safety, environmental and operational issues
10. Inspection and maintenance of RES’s tools, equipment and PPE
11. Provision of relevant information for reports to issue to client
12. Competency and skills to:
13. Deliver planned and reactive offshore activities
14. Work effectively alone and as part of a team
15. Maintain complex system involving difficult access
16. On-Call: depending on your knowledge and experience, you may be expected to participate in a call out rota to provide emergency response outside of normal working hours.
17. Due to the nature of the offshore environment the role requires a flexible approach to the working days and hours requiring working outside normal working hours
18. The role also includes the following department responsibilities:
19. Support the production and review of procedures, processes and technical literature
20. Draft and/or provide inputs into proposals and related cost books
Knowledge
21. Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
22. Knowledge of HV safety rules
23. LV, HV & mechanical fault-finding and analysis
24. Knowledge of wind turbines and related equipment
25. Knowledge of balance of plant applicable to offshore wind farms
26. Knowledge of HV systems
27. Awareness of working at height and within a confined space
Skills
28. Excellent attitude to safety

30. Technical capability for the evaluation of complex equipment
31. Capable of working offshore and at height
32. Physically fit, the role will require climbing / transferring to offshore structures
33. Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
Experience
34. Experience of the offshore wind industry
35. Experience of working in multidiscipline teams
36. Experience in mechanical, electrical, power electronics, and hydraulic maintenance activities and troubleshooting
37. Experience with data logging and communication systems
38. Experience of transmission systems
39. Experience working at height (desirable)
Qualifications
40. An NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, but background in technical discipline
41. GWO Training (desirable, however full training will be given)
42. IRATA or rigging qualification (desirable)
43. Hold a full driving license
