Job overview

One fulltime post (37.5 hours) and one part time post(22.5 hours) has become available as a Urology Cancer Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP). To provide clinical leadership, service provision and education in prostate cancer diagnostics. The post holder will lead, working alongside the clinical and operational teams, a prostate diagnostic service to meet national targets and standards. They will role model and provide supervision in delivering expert patient care both assessing patients presenting with suspected cancer, delivering diagnosis and performing trans perineal prostate biopsies.


Main duties of the job

Duties to include but not limited to the following within the Urology Specialist Nursing Team

* FDS (2week wait) outpatients clinics
* Independent in LATP biopsy lists
* Giving of cancer results & treatment plans
* Active participation in MDT
* Prostate cancer patient contact & support
* Nurse prescriber

Person specification


Education/ Qualifications

* Registered Nurse
* Degree or equivalent
* advanced assessment module/course
* Mentorship Course or Equivalent
* independent prescriber according to the Trusts non- medical prescribing policy
* Teaching Qualification


Experience

* prostate cancer diagnostics
* CPD
* skills of history taking and physical assessment to direct patient care
* Proven evidence of Management / leadership skills and autonomous practice
* Experience of project management
* Experience of Quality Improvement Projects / Change Management
* Prostate cancer diagnostics experience in performing trans perineal prostate biopsy


Skills/Knowledge/Ability

* Experience of resource / budget management
* Knowledge of quality standards & NICE recommendations/NSF
* Time management and organisation skills
* Experience in patient advocacy
