Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP Lewes, a category B remand prison based in Lewes, East Sussex. The prison houses around 692 patients aged between 18-65 years of age. You will be working in receptions supporting the intake of new patients into the prison and will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team including the substance misuse nurses and early days mental health team to deliver high quality healthcare services. Suitable applicants for this role must have experience and feel confident prescribing controlled substances.
Hours
* 1 weekday evening 6pm-10pm
* Every other Saturday 2-6pm
These sessions will be face to face with patients on site at HMP Lewes.
Salary
This position is a part time role working 24 hours per week, with an annual salary of up to £ Apply FTE per annum depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
Our General Practitioners are highly valued members of the Prison Healthcare community. As a General Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary and will include:
* Deliver first class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and develop knowledge across areas not typically experienced in a standard practice or A&E environment
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patients' requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management
* Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team on site, and to patients, with involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities

Qualifications required
* MBChB or MBBS
* Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
