PE Global is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for our renewable energy client based in Norwich, UK. The role is an initial 6-month contract. The rate for this role is £415 per day, outside IR35.
Purpose of the Role:
To manage subcontractor and materials costs for assigned construction projects, ensure effective contract administration, and support project teams with cost planning, progress reporting, and procurement coordination. You will also liaise with project stakeholders to resolve design and construction issues and ensure projects remain within budget and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and administer subcontractor and material costs.
* Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and project specifications.
* Conduct cost planning, analysis, and site measurements for progress payments and variations.
* Prepare gross lettable area (GLA) measurements, plot ratio analysis, and support planning applications.
* Report on job progress and cost control to the Project Manager.
* Prepare and submit progress claims for client payments.
* Review and authorize payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
* Support subcontractor selection and tender evaluation.
* Conduct contract negotiations and review contract terms for compliance with organizational practices.
* Coordinate with Project Managers and designers to solve project-related challenges.
* Provide input on purchasing and site procurement requirements.
* Ensure compliance with cost estimates and contractual obligations.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline.
* Chartered status (MRICS, etc.) or currently working towards chartership is preferred.
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of experience in the heavy/industrial construction sector, ideally in the power sector.
* At least 3 years of subcontract management experience, including commercial, contractual, and construction aspects.
* Strong understanding of standard and bespoke contracts.
* Experience managing multiple subcontract packages simultaneously.
* Technical background is advantageous.
