Overview
Permanent 26.25 hours per week in a day shift (Monday‑Friday, variable between 08:30am and 7:00pm), Band 5. The position is based at the Borders Macmillan Centre, Borders General Hospital, Huntlyburn, Melrose, TD6 9BS.
Responsibilities
* Provide nursing care and support in the Day Case Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapy (SACT) Day Case Unit.
* Conduct pre‑SACT treatment assessments, including protocol‑guided analysis of blood results.
* Administer SACT independently while ensuring safe delivery and patient safety.
* Demonstrate compassion and empathy in caring for people with cancer and work collaboratively within the team.
* Support professional development opportunities, including further study in SACT if required.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Registered General Nurse.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Compassion and empathy for patients with cancer.
* Desirable but not essential: competency and experience in SACT.
* For candidates without an SACT qualification, you must be committed to undertake further study in the safe delivery of Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapies.
* Comply with criminal records checks; if the role is classified as a regulated role, you will be subject to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
* Prove right to work in the United Kingdom, either through UK nationality, settled status, pre‑settled status, or a valid UK visa.
