Marlowe Environmental Services specializes predominantly in Water Treatment and Water Hygiene across the UK. This fast-growing business has over 1,200 employees and serves more than 7,000 customers.
It is essential that candidates have previous experience working within a complex organization, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines while managing multiple stakeholders.
The role is within our largest and most complex division, requiring quick thinking during challenging month-end processes, assessing conflicting priorities to ensure accurate financial reporting on time.
Applicants should have held a people management position, capable of guiding a team of three direct reports through demanding deadlines, providing support and development tailored to individual needs.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities
Team Support and Management:
* Ensure your team has all necessary information to perform their roles effectively.
* Identify individual needs and provide appropriate support and advice.
* Conduct monthly one-to-one meetings to discuss performance.
* Complete Performance Development Reviews with initial objectives and subsequent progress reviews.
* Set a positive example as a confident line manager, guiding your team to success.
* Manage and monitor all types of absences, seeking additional support if needed.
* Support other divisions' Management Accountants, fostering a collaborative team environment.
* Coordinate with the finance department to ensure clear communication of feedback and updates.
Management Accounts Reporting and Review:
* Deliver accurate management accounts by the deadline.
* Review submissions, providing feedback for amendments.
* Provide timely updates on deliverable changes.
* Continuously review and improve processes for efficiency.
* Assist with accurate divisional and group reporting and analysis.
* Sign off monthly balance sheet commentary and trend analysis.
* Approve monthly risk and opportunities reports.
* Authorize monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including adjustments.
* Build a strong working relationship with the Business Line Financial Controller.
* Manage year-end audit packs and liaise with auditors to meet deliverables.
* Provide statutory reporting information and review draft accounts.
* Support budgeting and forecasting with relevant information and analysis.
* Enhance the timing, content, and accuracy of financial and management reports.
* Maintain procedures and process documentation, seeking continuous improvement.
Ad Hoc Support Tasks:
* Step in for the Head of Management Accounts or BLFC when required.
* Perform other duties as necessary.
Key Performance Indicators:
* Management accounts produced within 8 working days.
* Balance sheet reconciliations completed accurately within 8 days of month-end.
* Board packs finalized within 8 working days.
