Job Description

About The National College

At The National College, part of National Education Group, we empower your workforce to transform children's lives. Our all-in-one platform helps schools, trusts and nurseries stay compliant, raise standards, and reduce staff workload — all through intuitive, powerful software.

If educators need it, we build it.

We’ve created a unique platform combining the world’s largest CPD and policy library with custom-built tools — developed in collaboration with thousands of schools and over 1,000 education experts.

The Role

We are now looking for a Workato Specialist to join our Technology team, supporting automation and integration initiatives across the organisation.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining integrations between critical business systems using Workato. Your work will directly support our mission of empowering education workforces through high-quality digital solutions by reducing manual effort, improving system interoperability, and delivering scalable automation.

You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across departments — particularly within finance and operations — to identify automation opportunities, translate business requirements into technical specifications, and deliver solutions that drive measurable impact. Success in this role requires both deep technical expertise and the ability to communicate clearly with non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan, design, and deliver integration solutions using Workato to improve system interoperability and reduce manual workloads.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements, understand pain points, and translate them into technical solutions.
* Build and maintain Workato recipes and custom code solutions, ensuring solutions follow technical best practices (documentation, testing, version control).
* Act as the bridge between technical systems and business operations, ensuring solutions are clear, relevant, and valuable to end users.
* Support integration efforts related to the rollout and optimisation of FinancialForce.
* Monitor and optimise integration performance, troubleshooting and resolving issues as they arise.
* Develop and maintain custom scripts to extend integration capabilities.
* Stay current with Workato best practices and new features, applying them appropriately.
* Train and support business users in using Workato dashboards and automation interfaces.

Experience

Required

* Strong demonstrable experience in designing, developing, and deploying integration solutions using Workato.
* Strong hands-on experience creating Workato recipes, managing triggers, actions, and jobs.
* Experience leading and owning an iPaaS platform within a business.
* Expertise in API integrations and working with cloud applications, including the ability to implement against custom APIs without existing connectors.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong scripting and data skills (e.g., Python, SQL).
* Ability to create and manage complex workflows, building solutions that automate manual business processes.
* Understanding of Certinia (FinancialForce) or similar ERP processes and integrations.

Preferred

* Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), subscription products, or B2B SaaS models.
* Experience working in the edtech, education, or e-learning sectors.

Preferred Qualifications

* A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
* Professional certifications in Workato would be advantageous
