GRADE: Band C/D SCP 5 – 17 £23,320 - £28,397 per annum HOURS: 37 Hours per week, Term Time 2 weeks We are looking for a dynamic, resilient and committed individual to join Student Support Services as a non-teaching behaviour mentor. The behaviour mentor team are central to setting a positive climate for learning throughout the academy by supporting all students to meet the academy’s high expectations of behaviour. This is a fast-paced, exciting opportunity for the right candidate. While we are ideally looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience in pastoral care within a school, we are open to applications from outstanding candidates with a strong grounding in supporting children and families outside of the education sector – for all prospective candidates, a passion for supporting young people, tenacity and a commitment to inclusive practice will be vital for success. Our academy is in an exciting phase of transition and there has been immense progress in developing a strong culture of safeguarding and high-quality pastoral care - this is a tremendous opportunity for an exceptional candidate to join our Student Support Services team and help further improve outcomes for all our young people, irrespective of the challenges they face. Key Responsibilities: Build positive relationships rooted in mutual respect demonstrating a commitment to supporting all students, including the most challenging Consistently model positive assertive interactions with students setting high expectations for all To regularly and effectively communicate with the Duty Officer to provide timely, measured and effective support to students and class teachers when requests for on call are made. To support conflict resolution between students and staff through a range of restorative processes To lead morning and after school duties to ensure the academy day begins and ends in good order To support with other daily duties as directed by SLT To attend and routinely feedback in the Student Support Services’ daily behaviour briefing to ensure all outstanding incidents are followed up in a timely fashion To provide timely, detailed contact to students’ families where appropriate and ensure contact home is fairly delegated across the wider team To work closely with teaching heads of year to ensure behaviour processes are consistently implemented and behaviour concerns are escalated appropriately To engage in, and contribute to, weekly Pastoral meetings to ensure close working links with the wider Student Support Service To ensure ARBOR student behaviour logs are accurately maintained To support the suspension/exclusion process via detailed logs on ARBOR and individual statements as required To provide bespoke intervention programmes where capacity allows To engage in relevant CPD to support role Candidates should be able to demonstrate: The successful candidate will: Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
