We are a fast-growing RF innovations company supplying aerospace, defence and specialist markets. You will join a small, multidisciplinary team manufacturing high-reliability antenna assemblies along with specialist microelectronics for critical applications.
Role Purpose & Impact
You will spearhead low-volume, high-reliability production of our antenna and electronics product range. By leading assembly, testing and QA, you'll directly influence product performance, customer satisfaction and our supply-chain efficiency. Being a self-starter is key as this will be the first dedicated production engineer within the company. It is expected that this role will take responsibility for all production stages ensuring tools, techniques and facilities can support the production capacity required.
Key Responsibilities
* Hand-assembly of antennas, including reflow soldering of components, integration of cables as well as textile covers.
* Full PCB assembly for electronics research projects including components, ideally down to 0201 and fine pitch multi lead components.
* QA and test of Antennas and microelectronics, ensuring products are operable and built to specification
* Develop, implement and maintain QA processes and documentation to ISO 9001 and relevant aerospace or defence standards
* Source components, manage stock control and update BOMs
* Liaise with external suppliers to manage new product introduction, oversee production runs, ensuring quality and on-time delivery
* Drive safe working practices and maintain build documentation
* Contribute to design-for-manufacture and production line design and optimisation
* Participate in supplier visits and support logistics where required
Essential Skills & Experience
* Proven electronics assembly and QA/QC in a manufacturing environment
* Skilled in fine-pitch soldering, reflow and RF test equipment (network analysers, signal generators) including hand rework for fault fixing and research and development
* Experience in supply-chain coordination, stock management and traceability records experience with RF cable assemblies, especially coaxial products
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for supplier visits and urgent logistics
Desirable Skills and Experience
* IPC-A-610/
IPC J-STD-001 or equivalent soldering certification and experience within a low or high-volume environment would be beneficial although not essential
- Previous supplier management or subcontract manufacturing oversight
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, aerospace or defence quality frameworks
- Experience support electronics Research and Development
The role will require UK Security Clearance to at least SC check, existing clearance is not necessary, however the ability to pass clearance is required. Typically, a UK passport with at least 5 years residency is a minimum requirement. As this is a small business, staff will occasionally be required to contribute to activities outside of their normal job role, this could be delivery of equipment, assistance on technical trials or support to the wider technical team.
