This position is a Sr. Vendor Manager role that drives overseas manufacturers entry into Japanese market segment, while collaborating with domestic and international partners. This contributes to the growth of the Hardlines Business Division.
The core responsibilities include:
1. Recruiting and launching overseas manufacturers.
2. Achieving P/L targets and managing business program for overseas manufacturers who have started business on Amazon.co.jp through the recruitment.
3. Building and improving mechanisms for both recruiting overseas manufacturers and managing their post-launch business management/operations.
4. Identifying, planning, and executing strategic growth plans to further expand the program.
This role entails extensive collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization, including Category Leaders, Vendor Managers, In-stock Managers, Web Creation, Marketing, and Seller Business teams.
The position also interfaces with critical business functions such as Import Team, Product Compliance, Legal, and Finance departments, as well as external business partners. This cross-functional leadership position requires you to build strong relationships at all organizational levels and maintain effective communication with senior leadership across multiple departments. Given the global nature of this role, strong English language proficiency is essential for engaging with Amazon's international teams and conducting negotiations with overseas manufacturers. Beyond these primary responsibilities, there may be opportunities to spearhead strategic initiatives across the Hardlines Business Division.
Key job responsibilities
1. Recruitment
1. Strategically identify and evaluate potential international manufacturers aligned with Category objectives. Lead end-to-end acquisition, including relationship building, terms & conditions negotiations, and onboarding processes, serving as the primary point of contact for international manufacturers.
2. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of cross-industry trends and strategically apply this expertise to identify and engage potential manufacturing partners.
2. P/L and Business Program Management
1. Drive business performance through regular financial analysis and strategic vendor negotiations, optimizing opportunities to exceed targeted metrics on weekly, monthly, and quarterly levels.
2. Deliver comprehensive business performance updates to senior stakeholders, including Category Leaders, ensuring strategic alignment and transparency.
3. Building and Improving Mechanisms
1. Design and implement innovative business mechanisms to accelerate international manufacturer growth and ensure scalable program expansion.
2. Streamline vendor lifecycle management by optimizing recruitment, onboarding, and post-launch operations. This encompasses automated vendor assessment, enhanced sourcing methodologies, and refined inventory management systems.
3. Orchestrate cross-functional initiatives while maintaining effective stakeholder communications and delivering results within critical timeframes.
4. Strategy Planning
1. Lead comprehensive assessment of market dynamics and organizational opportunities to formulate and execute strategic growth strategies aligned with business objectives.
2. Collaborate with Category Leaders to architect and implement initiatives that accelerate strategic category growth.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in account management, project/program management, or business analysis
- Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English (speaking, writing, and reading)
- Experience in leading discussions, negotiations, and writing documents in English, including interactions with overseas entities
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Proven ability to use data to influence business decisions
- Experience in driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL
