Overview
The Radiology Departments within York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust employ a multi-disciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical staff to provide a high quality diagnostic radiology service. Services are based at two main sites - York and Scarborough - with several smaller satellite sites within the region. Applications are invited from newly qualified or experienced Radiographers to join our busy, friendly team at Scarborough. Students who have graduated awaiting results/registration are welcome to apply. A full range of imaging modalities is provided at both York and Scarborough Hospitals including general and trauma radiography, Fluoroscopy, MRI and CT. Interventional vascular radiology is currently only provided at York. A new Emergency department with Imaging facilities recently opened in Scarborough. A CDC development will also come on stream this year. The successful candidate(s) will rotate through both these areas alongside the existing main department.
Responsibilities
Initial duties will include plain film, trauma and orthopaedics, fluoroscopy, theatre work and mobiles, with a salary scale dependent on relevant transferable knowledge and skills. The successful candidate(s) will rotate through both sites and work flexibly throughout the general department including theatres, fluoroscopy, DEXA, and the Emergency Department. You will be expected to participate in the general out of hours rota which provides a service 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We are a forward-thinking department that values our staff and are committed to advanced practice with a number of Radiographers currently undertaking extended roles. As a department we encourage the progression of our radiographers to develop from a band 5 to band 6 via a competency-based run through. Opportunities exist for Radiographers to undertake funded post-graduate study in all modalities. Recent qualifications obtained by staff include post graduate certificates in MRI, CT, Forensics and Image Reporting, Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Imaging, in Ultrasound and PhD in MRI. We currently support students in their training from the Universities of Leeds and Hull. Staff are given training and support to become mentors and assessors.
