Mechanical Fitter – Environment
Plymouth
What you will be doing:
We are seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join Galliford Try. You will work on our South West Water Frameworks within our Environment Business, delivering schemes mainly in the Water Industry, including Treatment Waste and Water schemes.
Ideally based in or near Plymouth, with travel across multiple sites in the region.
Reporting to the Site Supervisor/Manager and coordinated by Project Engineers, responsibilities include Mechanical installation and maintenance on Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Pumping Stations, and industries like Mines & Quarrying, Environmental Agency facilities, and Local Authority infrastructure.
This role may require participation in an ‘on-call’ rota for emergency breakdowns, fault finding, and diagnostics.
Daily tasks include installations, maintenance, completing site documentation, and updating ‘Issued for Construction’ drawings to ‘As-Built’ status.
As part of our Environment Business, sharing innovative ideas for improved delivery is encouraged. You will also check goods delivered are as per order and report any discrepancies.

About You:
You will be a proactive team player with reliability, good time management, and communication skills. A ‘can do’ attitude and experience working in confined spaces are beneficial.
Required qualifications include an industry-relevant ONC/NVQ/City & Guilds, CSCS card, and Confined Space Training. Additional desirable certifications include ECS, SSSTS, EUSR (Clean Water Hygiene), and First Aid.
Experience in water/wastewater industries, understanding of mechanical drawings, and schematics are essential. Power tools and a van are provided, along with career development and overtime opportunities.
