Newall, is a global supplier of high-quality and high-performance digital readout systems (DRO) and linear feedback encoders. All products designed and built on site in Leicestershire.
We are currently seeking a talented Hardware Design Engineer to join our team.
General Responsibilities
• Key participant in the design and development of equipment, processes and systems that may include data networks, communications, and display
• Organizes the recurring analysis of equipment specifications and process requirements to conceive a practical design
• Collaborate with research engineers or scientists and customer representatives to resolve design problems
• Maintains technical procedures, documentation and manuals
• May collaborate with technicians and technologists who provide technical support
Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Specific Responsibilities
1. Modification of existing PCB designs for Newall products.
2. Blank Sheet designs of PCB layouts and Schematics for NPD’s to design specifications.
3. Design and assembly of electronics test equipment under instruction from the senior hardware engineer.
4. Liaising with PCB and component suppliers to ensure functional economic designs. Including sourcing alternative components.
5. Use of SVN software to ensure proper version control for designs.
6. Evaluation of prototype designs and modifications via hand soldering as needed.
Specific Qualifications & Experience
7. Degree in a relevant Electronics Engineering subject or HNC/HND with relevant experience.
8. Experience with Altium design software preferred but not essential.
9. Experience using fault finding equipment, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and logic analysers would be an advantage.
