Part Time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Writing for Young People (Fixed Term)
We are looking for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Writing for Young People to join the Creative Writing team at Bath Spa University. This is a Fixed Term, part-time 0.4 contract from September 2025 – August 2026. The role involves teaching and assessment on the MA Writing for Young People programme, contributing to undergraduate teaching or short courses in creative writing, module and assessment management via the university’s virtual learning environment, and supporting programme development. You will engage in research and scholarly activity in support of the university’s research strategy, build external partnerships, and supervise and mentor colleagues with less experience.
About You
* Experience of university-level learning, teaching and assessment in Creative Writing
* Publication record as a writer for children and/or young adults
* Knowledge and experience of writing for children and/or young adults sector
* Experience with digital learning environments and e-learning tools
* Relevant research degree and experience
* Experience of curriculum design and development
* Experience of developing and running short courses
* Interest in pedagogic innovation and working with external partners
* HEA Fellowship is desirable but not essential
Responsibilities
* Design and deliver teaching and assessment on the MA Writing for Young People programme and contribute to undergraduate teaching or short courses in creative writing
* Manage modules and assessments via the University’s virtual learning environment
* Support programme development and participate in student recruitment and open days
* Engage in relevant research activities and scholarly work in line with the university’s research strategy
* Supervise and mentor colleagues with less experience
Additional Information
* Salary: Ac3S – Lecturer starting from £17,898 per annum pro rata (£44,746 full-time equivalent);
* Ac3A – Senior Lecturer starting from £19,529 per annum pro rata (£48,823 full-time equivalent)
* This is a fixed-term, part-time 0.4 contract from September 2025 – August 2026
