As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems for gas turbines and their associated equipment. Reporting to the Controls Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective repair, calibration, and overhaul of control solutions and field service activities. Your day-to-day will involve both hands-on technical work and collaboration with various teams across the business.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
* Design and build PLC-based control systems
* Create Functional Design Specification (FDS) documents
* Perform Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments
* Develop full working applications based on functional design specs
* Provide technical support to Field Service and Project Teams
* Lead technical visits to customer sites to support contracted work
* Conduct site surveys and offer troubleshooting assistance
* Assist the sales and project teams in preparing technical quotations
* Prepare detailed control systems documentation
* Work on a variety of projects both on-site and offshore
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* A recognised qualification in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Automation Engineering is preferred; however, candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
* Proficiency in Allen Bradley RSLogix PLC programming (Ladder, Function Block, Sequential Flow Diagrams)
* Knowledge of vibration monitoring, fuel control, and governing systems
* Familiarity with CitectScada, RSView, Wonderware, and FactoryTalk HMI software
* Experience designing control systems for gas turbines and integrating them with existing plant equipment
* Ability to produce layout diagrams using CAD (desirable)
* Flexible approach to working additional hours and away from home when required
