The ward prides itself on being a dynamic multidisciplinary team that supports and facilitates the care of 28 inpatients with sub acute medical, rehabilitation and complex discharge needs

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our nursing management team. This will be part of a development programme with support from the leadership team We are looking for someone who enjoys working closely with senior management in promoting safe care for patients and our Trust initiatives.

You should have post registration experience and goals to increase your leadership skills and knowledge. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to providing a high standard of patient care. Main duties of the job

Management and leadership

Be a visible clinical lead on shift and a point of contact for staff, patients and their families

Lead and deliver safe care, support the band 5s and the team on screening of admission and discharge processes

Workforce planning, rotas, leave and absence management, performance monitoring through engaging staff with clinical supervision, 1:1s and appraisal processes

Engage in audit processes and help to maintain and improve quality standards. Active involvement in developing new practices

Reviewing of incidents and implementing learning

Act as deputy in absence of Ward Manager

Leading the team in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Be a role model and resource for junior staff

Communicate with a wide range of patients, carers, relatives, staff and other professionals disseminating information appropriately and in a sensitive manner. Being able to engage in difficult conversations and be confident to problem solve if needed.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Inpatient Wards at our Community Hospitals are at the heart of what we do. The inpatient Wards offer a round the clock – 7 days a week service to provide a high standard of care and support for patients where care can no longer be delivered in the home due to the nature of their condition.

To provide and maintain standards of care as required by the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and local and Trust Policy.


Person specification


QUALIFICATIONS

* Degree in healthcare or equivalent
* Evidence of on-going development
* Level 1 RGN with current registration
* Post-reg qualification (e.g. care of elderly, care of the dying)
* Recognised qualifications in any of the following:- Mental Health / Care of the Elderly / Palliative Care / Facilitated Learning and Practice or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification
* A Management/leadership course at a PGC level


NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

* Development of managerial skills to take charge of and lead a team post qualification
* Understanding of Clinical Governance.
* Community Hospital experience pre and post registration
