We are seeking a Business Development Manager – Enterprise Software Solutions to join our team working towards a sustainable future. This is a permanent position, preferably located in the UK, Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, or Germany.
Responsibilities
* Originate new business opportunities for GEMS Software Solutions in European markets, focusing on establishing new customers for enterprise master service agreements.
* Forecast and deliver sales contracts ranging from €2M to over €15M, ensuring high recurring revenue, profitability, and manageable risk.
* Manage customer relationships and develop business cases (Capex & Opex).
* Enhance market presence and awareness of Wärtsilä software solutions.
* Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts throughout project lifecycles.
* Create new opportunities within named accounts, aligning customer needs with Wärtsilä’s value proposition.
* Implement strategy and account planning for assigned customers.
* Prepare and submit offers for energy storage solutions.
* Lead contract negotiations from origination to closure, coordinating with internal teams across functions.
* Collaborate with the energy storage solutions sales team to identify new customers for ESS Hardware.
* Maintain timely and relevant data in SalesForce CRM.
Qualifications
* 5-10 years of industry sales experience with strong customer focus and communication skills.
* Comprehensive knowledge of European energy and power markets, including renewable energy and energy storage.
* Strong project and process management skills, capable of managing multiple teams and projects.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills; multilingual abilities (English, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Polish) are preferred.
* Proven consultative selling skills and experience influencing senior stakeholders.
* Attention to detail and ability to drive complex opportunities to profitable closure.
* Understanding of utility industry, IPPs, European electricity markets, and energy storage financing, construction, and operations.
* Strong technical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
* Ability to build inclusive environments and travel as needed.
* Proficiency with MS Office, SalesForce, and adaptability to new tools.
* Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s in business or technical field is a plus.

* Successful project sales with end-to-end profitability.
* Engagement of sales teams, stakeholder collaboration, and customer satisfaction.
