Location: Manchester (Spinningfields) - Hybrid (2 days onsite per week)

About the Role
The client is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join a collaborative, forward‑thinking engineering organisation. The successful candidate will work within multi‑disciplinary, full‑stack squads alongside product managers, designers, and fellow engineers. This is a hands-on role covering the full software development lifecycle-from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
The engineering environment embraces AI‑enabled development practices using tools such as GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT to enhance delivery speed, quality, and innovation. Candidates excited about leveraging modern engineering and AI tooling will thrive here.
Key Responsibilities
Lead feature development and contribute to technical strategy within the team
Collaborate closely with product and design teams to deliver high‑impact user features
Write clean, maintainable code using Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, AWS, and Vue.js
Champion engineering best practices, including TDD, pairing, mob programming, and continuous delivery
Embed security considerations throughout the development process
Debug, optimise, and maintain a high‑performance codebase
Stay informed about emerging engineering trends and bring fresh ideas
Mentor colleagues and support capability growth across the team
About You
Proven experience as a software engineer with strong Java skills; experience with TypeScript and JavaScript is advantageous
Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns
Passion for agile development and delivering user value at pace
Experience with end‑to‑end testing and Git-based version control
Comfortable using AI coding assistants to boost productivity
Collaborative, open-minded, and passionate about continuous improvement
