As part of our continued growth, we’re looking for an Assistant Engineer to join our Central Region, supporting the delivery of high-quality developments while building a strong foundation for a long-term career in engineering.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive Assistant Engineer to gain hands-on experience across all stages of residential development.
You’ll support the engineering function across multiple departments, working closely with internal teams, consultants and statutory authorities while developing your technical and professional skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide engineering support to the Head of Engineering and internal Commercial, Land, Sales and Build teams across multiple sites.
2. Commission and coordinate site surveys, technical reports and specialist assessments, including ecology, archaeology and acoustics.
3. Support pre-construction activities, risk management, site fees and engineering budgets.
4. Review and assist with compliant, practical and cost-effective engineering designs for roads, sewers, drainage and site levels, in line with statutory and NHBC/LABC requirements.
5. Support Roads & Sewers enquiries, payments, approvals and the administration of Section 38, 278 and 104 agreements, inspections and adoptions.
6. Attend and contribute to design team, engineering, pre-start and site meetings, undertaking site visits to monitor works against drawings, specifications and safety standards.
7. Coordinate utility disconnections, diversions and new service connections to support programme delivery.
8. Monitor engineering design programmes, identify value engineering opportunities and support the timely handover of completed areas to management companies.

What you will bring
9. Further education in construction or an engineering-related discipline, with a basic understanding of engineering principles and a strong willingness to learn.
10. Strong organisational, administrative and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and support multiple workstreams.
11. Confident IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; experience with AutoCAD is desirable.
12. A proactive, self-motivated and dependable approach, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
13. Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a practical, hands-on mindset.
14. An awareness of Section 38, 278 and 104 processes is desirable, but not essential.
15. A full UK driving licence and flexibility to undertake site visits as required.
