Building Safety Consultant

Salary up to £80,000
I’m working with a specialist consultancy that’s expanding its team and seeking an experienced Building Safety Consultant to take on a consultancy-led role. This is an excellent opportunity to use your inspection expertise to guide clients through the Building Safety Act 2022 and wider building regulations; helping deliver safer, higher-quality projects across the UK.
What makes this consultancy stand out is their unique mix of talent:
* Senior professionals still actively leading within local authority building control.
* Project leaders with hands-on experience delivering some of London’s most high-profile developments.
They view the Building Safety Act not as a regulatory burden, but as a turning point for the industry; a chance to embed safety into the heart of construction and drive broader improvements, from digital transformation and better information management to overall quality enhancement across the built environment.
What You’ll Do
* Advise clients on building safety legislation including the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, Fire Safety Act, and CDM Regulations.
* Conduct compliance reviews on higher-risk buildings (HRBs) and complex developments.
* Assess design and construction risks (fire safety, structural, etc.) and deliver clear, practical recommendations.
* Review building plans, prepare compliance reports, and support clients in achieving regulatory approval.
* Undertake targeted site inspections as required to ensure compliance and safety standards are met.
* Collaborate with developers, designers, and contractors to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality outcomes.
What They’re Looking For
* Degree in Building Surveying, Building Control, or a related discipline (or equivalent)
* Professional membership (or working towards membership) with CABE, RICS, or equivalent body.
* Class 2D – Class 3H Registered Building Inspector (or working towards registration - full support available).
* Strong understanding of building safety legislation, compliance frameworks, and regulatory processes.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
