We're working with a specialist autism and SEN school with an attached residential home in Preston to recruit Residential Support Workers who are passionate, proactive, and ready to make a difference.
This is more than just a care role - you'll be a role model, activity leader, and advocate for young people with autism and complex communication needs.
What You'll Be Doing:
Supporting children and young people (ages 8-19) in both the residential home and on-site school
Providing personal care, emotional support, and life skills coaching
Building strong, positive relationships with young people
Assisting with education, activities, and daily routines
Acting as a key worker where appropriate
Helping non-verbal young people using PECs, visual timetables, or SmartBox technology
Shift Patterns:
Full-Time:
Two shifts of 7am-10pm
One additional 10-hour shift (total 40 hours/week)
Fridays: Early finishes if all work is complete!
Part-Time:
10 to 30 hours per week available

What They're Looking For:
Personality over experience - a positive, "can-do" attitude is essential
Someone who takes initiative and thinks on their feet (e.g., leading fun, meaningful activities)
Experience in SEMH or autism settings is desirable but not essential
Willingness to provide personal care
Strong, clear spoken English (essential for pupil communication)
Polish speakers encouraged to apply due to current student needs - but not essential
Training & Development:
Full Teaching Assistant training offered for the right candidate
Opportunity to gain Level 3 in Children's Social Care
Regular CPD, safeguarding, and health & safety training provided
