About the Role
Account Handler to join our Edinburgh or Ayr office. In this role you will deliver outstanding service to clients and prospects, collaborate with executives to manage accounts day‑to‑day, build trusted relationships, and help drive retention and growth through proactive, high‑quality support.
Responsibilities
* Develop strong, long‑term relationships with a portfolio of clients, managing their accounts in a way that meets their specific servicing needs.
* Prepare renewal schedules and proactively contact clients ahead of deadlines, ensuring compliance needs are met and a smooth renewal process is achieved.
* Negotiate alternative quotes before renewal dates, offering clients valuable options and tailored solutions.
* Handle all documentation – including invoices and credit notes – with accuracy and efficiency.
* Manage claims promptly and within regulatory timescales, by utilising the central service claims team.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with insurance companies and colleagues within various departments.
* Operate an effective credit control process and provide timely reporting as required.
* Support operational needs of the business when requested to enhance teamwork and collaboration.
Qualifications
* Good organisational ability.
* Previous broking experience, preferably specialising in farm & estate, household and liability insurance.
* Knowledge of a wide range of commercial insurance products and companies.
* Experience obtaining information from clients via telephone & e‑mail.
* Experience obtaining quotes and placing business.
* Confident communication skills – both written & oral.
* Good negotiating skills and the ability to build good relationships with both clients and insurers/underwriters.
* Sound knowledge of FCA requirements within a broking role.
