Role Overview As a Fire & Flood Restoration Technician, you will be responsible for delivering restoration and specialist cleaning services following fire, flood, escape of water, and accidental damage incidents. You will attend residential and commercial properties, assess damage, carry out restoration works, operate specialist equipment, and ensure exceptional customer service throughout the restoration process. The successful candidate will be hands-on, customer-focused, and capable of working independently or as part of a team. Experienced technicians will also have the opportunity to mentor and support junior colleagues. Key Responsibilities Restoration & Cleaning · Attend allocated jobs using the company job management and reporting systems. · Carry out fire, flood, escape of water, and accidental damage restoration works. · Conduct moisture surveys, moisture mapping, and damage assessments. · Install, monitor, and remove drying equipment. · Carry out fire cleaning, soot removal, deodorisation, and specialist cleaning. · Undertake media blasting, DOFF cleaning, and other specialist cleaning techniques where required. · Pack, inventory, remove, and return customer contents safely and professionally. · Assist with strip-out works and property reinstatement preparation where necessary. · Ensure all work is completed to company and industry standards. Documentation & Reporting · Complete site reports, surveys, photographs, videos, and job documentation accurately. · Use company software and mobile applications to record site information. · Maintain clear and concise records of all works undertaken. · Report any issues, variations, or additional works identified on site. Customer Service · Provide excellent customer service during what can often be a stressful time for customers. · Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, insurers, loss adjusters, contractors, and colleagues. · Manage customer expectations and provide regular updates on progress. · Maintain a positive, solutions-focused attitude at all times. Health & Safety · Follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures. · Ensure safe use of equipment, chemicals, and access systems. · Maintain tidy and organised work areas. · Complete risk assessments and identify hazards where appropriate. · Ensure company vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained, clean, and fit for purpose. Teamwork & Development · Work effectively as part of a restoration team. · Support and assist colleagues on larger projects. · Share knowledge and best practice with less experienced technicians. · Participate in training and professional development opportunities. · Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency, quality, and customer service. Additional Duties · Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota. · Work away from home when required. · Undertake overtime and weekend work when necessary. · Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the business. Essential Skills & Experience · Full UK Driving Licence (maximum 3 penalty points). · Strong work ethic and positive attitude. · Excellent customer service and communication skills. · Good organisational and time management skills. · Ability to work independently and as part of a team. · Strong attention to detail. · Ability to produce accurate reports and documentation. · Physically fit and capable of manual handling activities. · Comfortable working at height and in challenging environments. · Professional appearance and conduct. · Flexible approach to working hours and emergency response requirements. Desirable Skills & Qualifications · Previous experience within fire and flood restoration, damage management, specialist cleaning, construction, or property maintenance. · BDMA Accreditation (Technician or Senior Technician). · IPAF Certification. · PASMA Certification. · First Aid Qualification. · Media Blasting experience. · DOFF or specialist cleaning equipment experience. · Towing Licence. Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Schedule: · Monday to Friday · 8-hour shifts · Overtime available · Participation in on-call rota · Occasional weekend work and overnight stays as required Location: Sussex, Surrey, Kent and surrounding areas.
