Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across clinical and non-clinical roles. The post is a fixed-term clinical fellow position in Renal transplantation and renal failure surgery, based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow, with rotational shifts and a 6-month initial duration (extendable depending on performance).
Responsibilities
* Clinical work within the West of Scotland Renal Transplant Unit and one of Europe’s busiest renal failure surgical services.
* Support of an on-call rota (currently 1 in 7, 24-hour partial shift), elective surgery, multidisciplinary team (MDT) and clinic duties, including departmental general surgical activity.
* Ward, clinic and operating theatre duties focused on renal transplantation, vascular access surgery, and general surgery.
* Contribute to the unit’s living donor program and participate in audit and research activities.
Qualifications and experience
* Clinical fellow post working at registrar level with a focus on renal transplantation and advanced vascular access surgery.
* The post is suitable for candidates with transplant and/or vascular surgical experience at senior registrar level or post-CCT.
* The unit is a world-leading centre in vascular access surgery, offering unique exposure and skills.
Location and duration
Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow. The post is a 6-month fixed-term appointment in the first instance, with potential extension depending on performance.

The post involves a rotational shift pattern and participation in an on-call rota. There is a living donor program and opportunities for audit and research involvement. Flexible working options may be discussed where service needs allow.
