About Secrets Worth Sharing

Secrets Worth Sharing is a platform that encourages more approachable and open conversations around childhood sexual abuse, using a methodology we call “serious joy”.

Launched in 2023 as a podcast and video series, the project has since evolved into a vibrant event platform, consultancy, and workshop space. We’ve held multiple events across the UK and Ireland, blending education, community, and cultural insight to reshape how these topics are discussed.

At the heart of the platform is a commitment to radical intersectionality — recognising that survivors are more than just their abuse, and that joy, identity, and humour can all play a powerful role in healing.

Secrets Worth Sharing is proudly based in Brighton & Hove, a city whose community and culture have shaped much of our work.

About The Role

Secrets Worth Sharing is looking for a reliable and self-sufficient second in command to support the day-to-day management of the non-profit and help grow our impact.

We’re seeking a Project Manager to work closely with founder Sophia on the delivery of key projects — from community events and partnerships to digital content and outreach. While some projects may shift depending on funding and timelines, this role will take the lead on our marketing and communications strategy, helping us grow our presence and reach new audiences.

This is a hands-on role for someone who’s confident working independently, comfortable with shifting priorities, and aligned with our trauma-informed and intersectional values.

While this is a part-time and flexible role with remote working, we are ideally looking for someone based in or near Brighton & Hove. Many of our events, meetings, and community partnerships are based here, and being able to attend in-person sessions or support local delivery would be a key part of the role.

Responsibilities

This is a hands-on and evolving role supporting multiple strands of Secrets Worth Sharing’s work. As a small non-profit, our priorities may shift depending on funding, partnerships, and capacity — so we’re looking for someone who’s adaptable, proactive, and aligned with our values.

Your responsibilities will fall into the areas below:

Core Responsibilities

* Take the lead on our marketing and outreach, helping grow our audience and raise awareness of our work
* Manage our communications channels – including newsletters, social media, and the website – with support from Sophia where needed
* Support the founder with planning, admin, and delivery of key projects (e.g. events, partnerships, talks, workshops)
* Stay responsive and organised across multiple moving parts, helping make sure things get done on time and to a high standard

Project-Specific Responsibilities

These tasks will depend on the specific projects running during your time with us.

* Event support: Assisting with planning, promotion, set-up, guest management, and post-event feedback for in-person or digital events
* Content coordination: Helping publish and promote podcast episodes, blogs, or video content if and when they go live
* The Museum of Difficult Topics: Contributing to planning and delivery of the exhibition, including workshops, funding applications, and set-up

We’re a small and dynamic team, so flexibility is key. Some weeks may be busier than others, and some tasks may evolve depending on the opportunities that come up. We’re looking for someone who enjoys pitching in and helping shape things as we grow.

Skills

We’re looking for someone who brings a thoughtful, proactive approach to their work and is excited to be part of a small team with a big mission.

Essential

* A commitment and desire to end childhood sexual abuse
* Alignment with Secrets Worth Sharing’s core values, including intersectionality, trauma-informed practice, and serious joy
* Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
* Experience thinking through projects with an intersectional and trauma-informed lens
* Experience with marketing and outreach project planning

Desirable (Nice to Have)

* Familiarity with Squarespace (or similar website platforms)
* Confidence using tools like Google Workspace (Docs, Drive, Sheets)
* Experience with using social media platofrms (Instagram. TikTok, youtube)
* Experience with Miro or other collaborative planning tools
* Familiarity with event design and/or facilitation
* Creative background and mindset
* Experience of writing (successful) funding applications
* Experience in speaking another language/ engaging in other cultural backgrounds
* Experience of talking about childhood sexual abuse or a difficult topic in a personal / professional capacity

Contract Period, Pay and Perks

Contract Period

The role will begin in January, with an initial contract running until March. If the fit feels right, there is potential to extend the role until December. Please note: we take a one-month break in summer (usually June or July), during which no work or payment will be expected.

Key Dates

Planning is expected to begin in January for an upcoming series of Spring events. Exact event dates will depend on funding and confirmation from our venue partner, Platf9rm. We’re also working towards a pop-up installation in September/ October, which will become a key project during that period and may temporarily replace other event responsibilities.

Pay and Frequency

The role is a part-time freelance role contracted for £800 per month for 8 half days (4 hours per day). This is the equivalent of a £200 day rate. The role is a freelance position (Not PAYE). This means you will be responsible for declaring your own taxes.

Equipment

Ideally, the candidate will have their own laptop to work from. If this is a challenge we can provide a second hand macbook, though it is very slow. You will be assigned your own email address when contacting people for the role, and we share a company phone if you need to make any phone calls as part of the job.

* Mental health support: We have a dedicated therapist who is available for one-off sessions throughout your time working with us. These are anonymous and at your discretion (no one other than the therapist will know that you booked a session)
* Away day: We’ve set aside a budget to plan a thoughtful, restorative team away day — designed with care, not corporate jargon.
* Flexible working: The role is part-time and largely remote, giving you freedom to manage your hours around other life commitments.
* Coworking pass (TBC): We’re exploring the option of a Platf9rm coworking membership to give you a shared creative space when needed.
* As we grow and secure more consistent funding, we plan to expand our support systems further.
