Job Purpose
Working within the Manufacturing Engineering department in Product Lines. PHINIA offers placements across a range of engineering, manufacturing, and support departments for students looking to pursue a career in engineering.
Key Responsibilities
* Development of test equipment and instrumentation.
* Run and develop performance test procedures.
* Test rig improvements.
* Improving manufacturing cycle up‑times.
* Supporting established assembly and test processes.
* Cost reduction exercises.
* Manufacturing line support.
* Inspection of components from warranty, customer testing or internal testing.
* Interpretation of test data, synthesis of results, and reporting.
* Problem solving through a methodical approach and innovative techniques.
* Ensure adherence to quality control standards and process documentation.
* Contribute to continuous improvement.
* Ensure a safe working environment with full compliance to relevant legislation.
* Application of AI technologies.
Skills and Competences
* Completed at least one year of a degree‑level qualification (or equivalent diploma/experience) in Engineering (e.g., Industrial, Automotive, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Mechanical, IT/Software/ Electronic, Mechatronic).
* Self‑motivated with a strong, flexible attitude towards work, good attention to detail, solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, ability to handle timescale pressure, analytical thinking, and initiative.
* Strong IT and software experience in Microsoft Office; analysis software (e.g., MATLAB) or programming (e.g., VBA) an advantage.
* Genuine interest and enjoyment in engineering and resolving technical problems.
* Practical experience of mechanical systems an advantage.
* Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, including teamwork ability.
* Tenacious and enthusiastic attitude toward implementing new ideas and changes.
* Willingness to train and develop skills.
