About the Role
As a Casual Registered Nurse in the Emergency Mental Health Service (EMHS), you’ll play a critical role in providing responsive, 24/7 comprehensive assessment, diagnostic, planning and treatment services to individuals experiencing a mental health emergency.
You will work in partnership with patients, their whānau, and a multidisciplinary team across both primary and secondary care settings.
Availability to provide shift cover over 24-hour period 7 days a week. Ideally this would suit a person who has availability over these time frames.
This is a dynamic and rewarding role requiring clinical confidence, compassion, cultural competence, and the ability to think quickly in complex situations. You’ll also have the opportunity to be involved in service development and continuous improvement.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
* A postgraduate qualification in Mental Health and Addictions.
* At least 5 years of relevant clinical experience in mental health and addiction nursing.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
* Experience in applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in practice.
Desired but not essential:
* Preceptorship or DAO (Duly Authorised Officer) experience.
* A nursing portfolio assessed at a proficient level or higher via an approved Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP).
