Occupational Therapist - Acute Respiratory and Rehab

We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist wishing to take their next steps on the career ladder and looking for a new challenge. The individual needs to be proactive and enthusiastic and will be joining the Acute Respiratory and Rehab Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The post holder will work as part of an integrated team and operate as an autonomous practitioner, providing a high standard of intervention across the speciality. The team is committed to providing highly specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients within a wide variety of acute medical and surgical wards. The role requires independent practice, applying high‑level clinical reasoning to ensure individualized, proactive, and holistic assessment and treatment planning.
Main duties of the job
As a member of both the integrated rehabilitation service and the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, excellent communication skills are essential.
As a Band 6 therapist you will support and develop rotational Band 5 therapists. The role also involves supervising unregistered therapy staff and educating therapy students on placement.
There will be opportunities for innovation and an expectation that you will be actively involved in relevant quality improvement projects to develop the Acute Respiratory and Rehabilitation team.

Person Specification
* B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy (3 year) or M.Sc. in Occupational Therapy (2 year) or Diploma in Occupational Therapy (3 year)
* Health and Care Professions Council registration
* Current driving licence
* Practice Educator Course and ability to supervise undergraduate Occupational Therapists
* RCOT membership
Experience
* Demonstrated experience working within acute medical and surgical specialities
* Evidence of a broad range of NHS experience working as part of a Multi‑Disciplinary Team
* Range of occupational therapy clinical experience including working in an acute setting and completing home/environmental assessments
Skills, abilities and knowledge
* Clinical reasoning skills
* Good knowledge of neurology, human anatomy and physiology
* Knowledge of appropriate equipment to enhance engagement in occupation
* Ability to prioritize and delegate workload and work in a pressurized working environment
* Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy in rehabilitation
* Specialist knowledge and application of Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions including standardized assessments and current evidence‑based practice
* Management of a varied acute caseload with patients with complex multi‑morbidities and frailty

£39,959 to £48,117 a year, pro rata.
