An opportunity for a Business Development Director to work in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications sector to lead and grow a portfolio.
Role and Responsibilities:
* Your role will be to drive one major TMT business, alongside other accounts, to accelerate growth through creating and building relationships, originating and qualifying opportunities, and driving proposals and bids—whether sole source, competitive, or formal RFPs—to win profitable revenue from all non-audit service lines across KPMG, ensuring delivery of those revenues.
* You will develop your own network and relationships at the client, understand their issues, originate single service line opportunities, and work with Partners to develop cross-service line solutions leading to multi-year, multi-£million programmes for KPMG.
* You will collaborate closely with the UK Sector Lead for TMT, the Global Lead Partner (GLP), and the Client Lead Partner (CLP), supporting account strategy development and opportunity optimization.
* You will lead the relationship strategy across your portfolio, developing relationships, mapping key contacts, and identifying target clients and relationship gaps.
* You will hold senior procurement relationships, lead negotiations, and support project teams in fee and T&Cs agreements.
* You will understand client priorities and sector trends to identify strategic opportunities and sales leads, supporting proposals and understanding KPMG’s offerings.
* You will articulate KPMG’s main advisory offerings and the value proposition effectively.
* You will support broader sales, marketing activities, and drive collaboration across KPMG services and member firms.
* You will foster innovation within the account and sector, sharing best practices and intelligence.
* You will act as a sales leader, coaching colleagues and enhancing sales skills.
Client relationships:
* Spend time at client sites and in meetings, both virtual and in person.
* Gather and share information on client issues, expand points of contact, and develop relationship maps.
* Lead relationship development, including with senior management and Board members.
* Coordinate client events, measure ROI, and act as a role model for business development.
* Identify white space and develop plans to target new opportunities.
* Improve sales conversion through rigorous processes, pricing, and negotiation.
* Ensure activities align with account plans and sales processes.
* Act as a focal point for selling new propositions and adding value through cross-functional solutions.
* Maintain opportunity management systems and coach teams to improve win rates.
Key Measures:
* Net sales performance, pipeline, new relationships, and account growth.
* Client feedback, colleague collaboration, and external profile.
* Ability to engage at senior levels, deliver insights, and demonstrate strong questioning and listening skills.
Skills:
* Experience in TMT sector or selling to TMT businesses.
* Proven sales or client-facing professional experience.
* Understanding of professional services firms is advantageous.
* Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
* Presentation and pitching skills, confidence with senior clients.
* Knowledge of firm services and ability to develop a multidisciplinary approach.
* Commercial acumen and methodologies to maximize outcomes.
