Job Purpose
We are seeking to recruit a Service Manager to join our mid-management team. The Service Manager will be responsible for overseeing a designated service, managing staff and resources to ensure a safe, supportive, and effective environment for children and young people.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, forward-thinking practitioner committed to delivering high-quality services through strong leadership and employee engagement.
Main Duties
The Service Manager will be responsible for:
* Managing the house rota;
* Authorising annual leave, approving training requests, and managing staff absences;
* Ensuring staff receive appropriate induction and development opportunities;
* Managing and maintaining house budgets;
* Proofreading professional reports;
* Role modeling trauma-informed practice on the floor, providing visible leadership to staff;
* Driving and reinforcing a positive organizational culture;
* Understanding all children and young people's care plans within the service;
* Maintaining a safe, welcoming, and homely environment;
* Developing and maintaining links and partnerships with other Kibble services;
* Liaising with parents, families, and external agencies involved in the care of children and young people, keeping them informed of progress and decisions;
* Acting as a liaison with outside agencies such as local authorities, psychological services, benefits agencies, housing associations, and community resources;
* Maintaining systems and structures for risk management and high-quality outcomes;
* Deputizing for the Operations Manager as needed;
* Contributing to service development to meet changing client needs;
* Supporting the development of staff through Service Development Plans and professional development;
* Maintaining personal professional development through available opportunities and initiative;
* Ensuring staff are aware of health and safety regulations;
* Performing any other duties delegated by Kibble’s management.
Key Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Possession of or working towards Introduction to Social Pedagogy, SVQ4, or equivalent SCQF Level 8/9 qualification;
* At least three years of experience working with children or young people in residential or day care settings;
* Ability to build trusting relationships with children, young people, and staff;
* Strong emotional resilience and ability to handle competing demands;
* Professional representation of the organization with external agencies;
* Experience in motivating, leading, and supporting staff or peers;
* Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
* Full driving license and willingness to drive school transport;
* Current membership of the SSSC;
* Commitment to Continuing Professional Development and up-to-date PRTL record.
