Job Description
Litigation Associate – Relocation Opportunity (London to Cayman Islands)
Location: George Town, Cayman Islands (Relocation from London Supported)
About the Opportunity
We are exclusively recruiting in London on behalf of a newly established boutique law firm in the Cayman Islands, offering a rare opportunity for an ambitious Litigation Associate to relocate from the UK to one of the world’s most attractive offshore legal jurisdictions.
The firm specialises in complex commercial litigation, restructuring, and insolvency matters within the global financial services sector.
Founded by a Chambers & Partners Band 1 ranked litigator with over 20 years’ experience in the Cayman Islands (including former Global Co-Head of Dispute Resolution & Insolvency at a leading offshore law firm), the practice has been intentionally built to operate at the very top end of the market—lean, selective, and focused on high-value, high-impact work.
This is a genuine opportunity to transition out of the London market and into a lower-leverage, high-responsibility environment, where quality of work, autonomy, and accelerated development are prioritised over hierarchy.
Why Consider a Move to Cayman?
This role offers a lifestyle and career combination that is rarely available in London:
* Year-round Caribbean lifestyle with world-class beaches and outdoor living
* ️ Exceptional work-life balance in a less congested, high-quality environment
* Tax-free income (no income tax in the Cayman Islands)
* ️ Easy access to North America, the UK, and wider Caribbean for travel
* A slower pace of life outside work, while maintaining elite-level legal practice
* A safe, international financial hub with a strong expat professional community
This is not just a career move—it is a lifestyle and long-term professional repositioning opportunity.
The Role
We are seeking a Litigation Associate (2–6 PQE) currently based in London or the UK with strong experience in financial services disputes and/or insolvency litigation.
You will relocate to the Cayman Islands and work directly with senior lawyers on complex, cross-border, high-value matters from day one.
The environment is intentionally low leverage, meaning you will take on real responsibility early, with direct exposure to clients, strategy, and court-facing work.
Key Responsibilities
* Advise on complex commercial litigation and insolvency matters
* Manage contentious proceedings before the Cayman Islands courts
* Draft pleadings, affidavits, submissions, opinions, and correspondence
* Conduct high-level legal research and strategic analysis
* Support litigation strategy and case direction alongside senior lawyers
* Liaise with leading counsel, experts, and insolvency practitioners
* Contribute to business development and the growth of the practice
Candidate Profile
We are looking for London-based associates who bring:
* 2–6 years’ PQE from a leading UK or offshore law firm
* Strong experience in disputes, ideally financial services litigation and/or insolvency
* Excellent academic credentials and technical legal ability
* Outstanding drafting, analytical, and communication skills
* Commercial awareness and strong strategic thinking ability
* Confidence operating with autonomy in a high-performance environment
Personal Attributes
The ideal candidate will be:
* Motivated by high-quality, complex legal work
* Open to relocation and embracing an international lifestyle change
* Comfortable taking ownership of matters early in their career
* Commercial, pragmatic, and solutions-focused
* Strong in judgment, communication, and client interaction
What’s on Offer
* Competitive salary: USD $150,000 – $240,000 (commensurate with experience)
* Tax-free income environment (Cayman Islands)
* Comprehensive health insurance
* Five weeks’ annual leave
* Statutory pension benefits
* Direct mentorship from market-leading practitioners
* Significant responsibility from day one
* A genuinely entrepreneurial, elite boutique environment
* Clear pathway for accelerated career progression
