Overview
The Senior Civil Designer is responsible for producing high-quality, compliant civil engineering design deliverables, supporting the delivery of work packages to agreed scope, schedule, cost, and quality standards. This role draws on broad experience across highways, drainage, and utilities coordination and collaborates closely with Technical Project Lead, Discipline Design Lead, CDAE/Package Design Lead and other team members to ensure technical excellence, innovation, and alignment with National Grid and AAJV standards.
Responsibilities
- Produce design deliverables (drawings, calculations, reports, models) in accordance with project requirements and national standards such as TP188.
- Lead design packages for drainage, highways, and utilities coordination.
- Participate in design reviews, providing technical input and supporting assurance and sign‑off.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to resolve cross‑discipline issues and ensure integrated solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of design work, changes, and decisions.
- Liaise with planning authorities and stakeholders to support planning applications.
- Support onboarding and knowledge transfer of new team members.
- Engage in lessons learned and knowledge sharing activities.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of design processes and tools.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and wellbeing requirements.
Qualifications
- Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE) with 7+ years of experience.
- Degree‑qualified in Civil Engineering (BEng and MSc).
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation and InfoDrainage.
- Experience in Section 278 schemes, sustainable drainage and infrastructure projects including interconnectors and regeneration schemes.
